Recipe: Cherries with banana ice-cream

Cherries are finally ripening and there is nothing better than eating them straight from a tree until you are so ful you are stuck up in the crown. Eat these delicious fruits as many times as you can in the season, for not only they are delicious, they also make us feel good. Cherries belong to one of the most detoxifying foods, they are full of minerals (iron and silicium especially), vitamins B and vitamin C. Their beautiful red colour is due to anthocyanins, plant pigments that work as powerful antioxidants. Especially in the summer, when proper sun protection is required, we should also think about protection from the inside out. Foods rich with antioxidants strengthens the ability of our body to protect itself from UV rays, makes us nicely tanned and prevents sunburns. At the top of it, antioxidants along with zink and vitamin C make our skin glowing and many research have linked them to preventing diseases such as gout, rheumatism and arthritis.

This week’s recipe is simple, fresh and full of cherries. It is a big hit among everybody who tried it!

We need:

  • half of kilo fresh cherries
  • 3 ripe frozen bananas

First we begin with a meditative cherry pitting. :) Then we take the bananas out of the freezer and cut them into smaller pieces. Put them into blender and mix until you get a creamy, ice-cream like consistency. You can also do it with a slow juicer or in a food processor. Then mix pitted cherries into the ice-cream and divide into servings.
