Spirulina is single-cell cyanobacteria and one of the first life forms, which approximately 3,6 billion years ago started to release oxygen, slowly forming the present-day atmosphere. In nature it can be found in damp soil, marshes, fresh and salt stagnant waters, but it grows best in warm tropical seas.
