Why PlanetBIO barley grass?

Premium quality. We have visited our farmers on New Zealand’s South Island in 2013 to check the premium quality of PlanetBIO green products with our own eyes.

Dried in 6 hours after harvesting. PlanetBIO barley and wheatgrass are harvested at the peak of their nutritional value and reach the  manufacturing plant in less than 6 hours. This ensures that all the nutrients and enzymes remain intact.

Grown outdoors. PlanetBIO grasses grow exposed to natural sunlight and different weather conditions, making them strong, vital and full of nutrients. Natural sunlight increases the chlorophyll content, which is seen right away in the bright green color of PlanetBIO barley and wheatgrass.

Good for your health and for the planet. PlanetBIO grasses are grown without pesticides and artificial fertilizers, which is confirmed with an organic certificate. This is often exceeded – our farmers use crop rotation methods that allow soil to rest and stay highly fertile.

No additives. You know what you get with PlanetBIO – every bag of PlanetBIO barley grass contains only 100 % barley grass. No fillers, colourings or other additives.

Barley is an ancient grain from the grass family (Poaceae) and became one of the first domesticated grains in the Fertile Crescent area, about 10,000 years ago. Barley grains are a common food, used in various different dishes, but barley grass that grows from them is even more nutritious. Young green leaves grow on nutrients found in barley grains and during this process, convert the nutrients into simpler forms. Complex carbohydrates get broken down into simple sugars while larger proteins - such as gluten - get split into individual amino acids. In contrast to barley grain, barley grass contains chlorophyll that gives it its green colour while mineral and vitamin content also increase during sprouting and growth.

The growing and processing of PlanetBIO barley grass powder meets European standards of organic farming and is free of pesticides and artificial fertilizers. Part of PlanetBIO team has visited the suppliers on New Zealand and made sure about the quality of our green products.

Our farmers use crop rotation methods that allow the soil to rest and stay highly fertile, increasing the nutritional profile of PlanetBIO barley grass as well. Besides crop rotation and the absence of pesticides, technologically advanced processing methods also contribute to the maintenance of nutrients in PlanetBIO barley grass. After harvesting, barley grass reaches the manufacturing plant in less than 6 hours. It is dried and carefully ground into powder there, while its microbiological integrity and nutritional profile are regularly analysed in a laboratory.
