Apricot kernels have traditionally been a part of the Hunza people’sdiet. Because of the presence of amygdalin, which gives them a slightlybitter taste, their consumption must be limited to small amounts - 1 to 2 kernels per day.

Apricot kernels are the kernels found inside apricot pits and have a strong bitter taste. They make up an important part of the diet of the Hunza people, known for their longevity. Vitamin B17 (amygdalin) gives the kernels their bitterness and transforms into cyanide in the body. Cyanide is toxic in larger amounts, but useful in moderate amounts (up to 10 apricot kernels a day) because weak and diseased cells (e.g. cancerous) are not able to metabolize it and cannot survive.

Vitamin B17 is also connected with the lowering of blood pressure and soothing of arthritis pain. Apricot kernels contain a broad spectrum of antioxidants that neutralize the effects of free radicals, responsible for premature signs of aging.

WARNING: Apricot kernels should not be consumed by children, pregnant women and nursing mothers. If nausea occurs while enjoying apricot kernels, stop eating and seek medical help. In case of excessive consumption of apricot kernels, poisoning may occur, so the recommended daily amounts should not be exceeded. A dietary supplement is not a substitute for a balanced and diverse diet.

PlanetBIO apricot kernels are obtained from organic apricots grown in Turkey.
